Peter, love the sound port. Is that box extra deep, or an illusion from the camera angle? Larry |

What a timely post--I was just going to ask about teh tone of walnut and sitka? Can you comment? |

Larry, its the angle! Personally I think the top wood plays more of a part how the guitar is going to sound that the back and sides wood. Of course the bracing, box size and many other factors will affect the way the guitar is going to sound but as far as wood is concerned the top is the main factor. You will find many people that agree with me and many that tottally disagree and I guess thats the way it will always will be ![]() I look at it this way: I love the brightness of a nice stiff Sitka top and the walnut is a beautifull wood and very pleasant to work with! So i do think Sitka and Walnut make a lovely combination! |

Peter, very nice looking box! I really like the sound port, I was thinking of doing one very close to that myself. BTW, that's a very nice set of walnut! |

Peter, is there no taper to the back on this guitar? Looks that way in the pics. If so, what's your thinking behind this? Nice sound port and walnut. She's looking good. |

yes, there is a tapper... 4" at the neck and 4.5" at the tail. Hard to see on the pics I wanted a less of of taper on this one to experiment with different configurations ![]() |

I'll add yet another "I love the soundport". I don't know why it didn't occur to me that you could do something other than a circle or oval for a soundport! ...now I need to see if I can figure out how to route out the Nitanny Lion logo as a soundport... Jay |
